April 2nd Workshop: "Flip and Quilt" (newest technique created by Mary Kay Mouton
Presenter: Theresa Jackson
Cost: $30
Cost: $30
April 1st program features an adventure in Modern Quilting with
Nancy Lambert as our guide. Nancy has planned to take us through
a journey exploring the ins and outs of her unique experiences
in creating modern quilts. She will share many of her beautiful
modern quilts with us. As an additional treat she will spend that
afternoon with us in an exciting workshop called "A Modern
Playground" where a traditional block will be reimagined towards
a modern view. Nancy will present inspirational ideas which build on the morning program. Your creativity will inspire a modern block. Exploration and imagination will be encouraged to enhance your own, unique block.
Beginning with the Ohio Star block, the designing of a modern quilt will be explored. Paper templates will be provided as a base upon which to build your own distinctive design. You will be introduced to using modern quilting elements such as scale, asymmetry, and other design elements. The templates will include multiple variations as starting points, so you can create your own design using markers, construction paper, and colored pencils, to draft it. If desired, your resulting design can be further enlarged to a size you would like to make into your very own modern quilt.
Workshop will be the day after the meeting. Full day.
Bring a lunch.
April 2nd brings a whole-day workshop led by Theresa Jackson.
She will instruct us in the latest Mary Kay Mouton process of
"Flip & Quilt". Learning this method of having the piecing be the
quilting is an exciting concept in a time when you need to get more
done in the time you have to create.
You'll be supplied with paper templates upon which to build your log cabin quilted blocks. You'll delight in the fact that you don't have to quilt it any further or if you choose you can decoratively quilt it. It is your option.
Sign up right away at the workshop table so you don't get left out of these great activities planned and presented by our members.
